| | Local Attractions: | Monastery of Sacromonte Distance: 1 miles The monastery was built at the place where, in 1594, treasure diggers found the famous lead plates with epigraphs of saints persecuted by Roman emperor Nero.
Palace of the Madraza Distance: 2 miles In the Arabian epoch this building was the university. Lateron it was changed totally, the façade today is baroque. Only the remarkable chapel is conserved in the original style.
El Albaicín Distance: 2 miles Located on a hill facing the Alhambra, it was the king's residence during 11th century. It still exists rests of the walls of the Alcazaba, the arcs of Puerta Monaita, Puerta Elvira and Arco de las Pesas, Arabian bathes and the Palace of Dar Al-horra.
Alhambra and Generalife Distance: 5 miles The Alhambra is not only the most important, but also the best conserved Arabian palace of its epoch. The name Alhambra means 'the red one' and refers to the color of the mountain on which it is built.
