| Hotel Description: | Traveller's advice circa 1790 'Sleep where the food is good, the wine plentiful and the beds comfortable.'
Experience our luxuary ensuite rooms after enjoying a delicious meal with fine wine in Somerset's premier gastro pub.
The Thatched Cottage is a beautiful 300-year-old listed Inn lying in the heart of the Mendips. We have extensively refurbished and re-thatched the Inn to bring the buildings and the facilities up to the very highest standards.
The contemporary open plan bar is not what the exterior of the building leads you to expect; elegant and light with its oak beams/wall paneling, wooden flooring and luxurious cream walls. Paintings were created for the design by Andrew Hennan, a local artist of some repute. The striking features continue through to the restaurant, seating 52, with two open fireplaces; an adult dining experience not to be missed. With a selection of 47 different wines and champagnes to choose from you will probably find something delicious to complement your meal. Our freshly created menus are based around local dishes but with a great Indian chef on the team Oriental dishes do creep in.
Upstairs there are 8 luxury bedrooms, each with a delightful en-suite offering a touch of real class, large comfortable beds and, if you must stay in touch, satelite TV and a broadband internet connection will do the trick. After a hard day in the Mendips what better way to finish the day than a good meal and a good night's sleep?
We also have a conference/meeting room for 28 - 45, perfect for wedding receptions and private parties. Equipped with a wide screen plasma TV and internet connections the room is also popular for training and company meetings.
This is all complemented by our staff; friendly, helpful and enthusiastic they add that old fashioned service which makes your stay here that little bit more enjoyable. The hotel is rated four Diamonds by the English Tourist Council and the Automobile Association. | | Room Information: | Double Room Oak floors in the bedrooms, slate floors in the bathrooms, tastefully redocorated and furnished with luxury soft fabrics, bath and shower with Molton brown products.
