The dairy is a lovingly restored and upgraded Victorian town house, retaining its character and original features.

The property was built in 1890. Originally it was a family home and joinery business. It was then purchased by the Trapp family and became a town dairy, selling milk, ice-cream and Yorkshire curd. The Dairy was sold and converted into a Guesthouse in 1978. Situated in central York, we are just 300 yards south of the medieval city walls and an easy stroll to York's many attractions and museums.
Each individually styled room has a colour television, CD/cassette Player, hot drink facilities, hairdryer and alarm clock. In addition the personal touches include toiletries, and information folders. Some rooms also have ceiling fans.

Our Family Room has 1 double bed and 2 single beds with an En-suite shower room. This room is ground floor and situated in our flower filled courtyard. The amenities in the room include Colour TV, DVD Player, CD/radio/cassette. The room also has a stable door entrance from the courtyard.

These rooms are all individually decorated with quality fabrics, Most have ceiling fans. 1 Room is ground floor in the courtyard.
The other 2 rooms are rear facing overlooking our internal flower filled courtyard. One of these rooms has the original Victorian bathroom with deep cast iron enameled bath
Restaurant Information:
Breakfast at the Dairy is between 8:30am and 9:15am.
You can choose from full Traditional breakfast, Continental, Vegetarian or Vegan.
Our breakfasts are all healthy with no fat used or frying.
Please note that we do not provide Evening Meals, however a list of recommended restaurants is available
Hotel Policies:
Children under 3 years stay free when sharing with 2 adults
Children under 13 years half price when sharing with 2 adults.
All internal areas of the guesthouse are no smoking.
Check in times are between 10 & 12AM or 4 & 6PM. We are closed between 12 noon and 4PM.
Single night bookings are subject to availability. Please search for Dairy Guesthouse on google to contact us direct.
Late check available by prior arrangement only.
Weekends are a minimum of 2 nights stay.
Bank Holiday weekends are a minimum of 3 nights stay
Ebor Horse races 15, 16 & 17 August is a minimum of 3 nights stay.
St. Nicholas Fair 24 to 27 November is a minimum stay of 4 nights
New Year is a minimum of 3 nights stay.
Any bookings made that do not apply with these minimum stays will not be honoured.
We do not take group bookings, any booking which consists of more than 2 rooms will be declined.
Payment is on departure by Cash, Cheque with Card up to limit. Sterling Travellers cheques are accepted but no change given.
All card transactions are subject to a 3% surcharge.
Bookings made within 7 days of arrival will require paymrnt in full at the time of booking. This will be taken from the card used to secure the booking
Pets are not allowed (Guide Dogs by prior arrangement)

Getting There:
From M1 follow onto A1M North and take junction 45 (A64 to York).Continue on the A64 towards York and take the second exit to York, signposted York West, Racecourse & Bishopthorpe. Go Straight through the first set of lights, turn left at the second set of lights. You need to be in the right hand lane when you approach the third set of lights. Go straight through these lights headed for Bishopthorpe.Half a mile down this road, just before you approach Bishopthorpe village, turn left signposted York and Racecourse. This is a short road with speed bumps, turn left at the end.You are now on Bishopthorpe Road.This road passes Middlethorpe Hall and York Law College.
You will then pass the York Racecourse entrance on your left.Continue through approx 1 mile of residential area, until you reach traffic lights with Jacksons mini-market on the left. Turn left at these lights onto Scarcroft Road. A short way down this road, you will see The Dairy.
By Rail:
We are a 5 minute taxi ride from the station or if you prefer to walk, turn right outside the station, walk to the end of the road and turn right onto blossom street. Follow blossom street until you come to a set of traffic lights with 'Kwikfit' garage on the right.
Turn left at the lights onto Scarcroft road. Follow this road to the other end where you will find the Dairy on the right. Walk time - 15-20 minutes
