If heading north or south on the A1, take the A69 signposted Hexham and Carlisle.
Exit the A69 at Heddon on the Wall and pick up the B6318, just before the Three Tuns public house,
heading west toward Chollerford. Continue on the B6318 for seven miles;
the turning to Matfen is on the right.
From the A68, join the B6318 heading east at the Stagshaw roundabout,
two miles north of Corbridge. Follow signs to Heddon on the Wall / Newcastle;
